YV4C2014 - And The WINNERS Are ...

November 18, 2014
Young Voices for Conservation 2014 wrapped up with the closing ceremony.  The ceremony was a fun-filled event to celebrate the hard work put in by all the teams throughout YV4C 2014.  The six finalists put up exhibitions on their projects, and held a mini carnival with games relating to the environment and their projects.
The event was organised by Treat Every Environment Special, with the Ms. Christa Hashim as the host for the event.  The ceremony was officiated by Ms May HT Kong, Head, Corporate Communications, Affin Bank Bhd representing the Executive Director, Operations and Strategic Services, Encik Shariffudin Mohamad.  The event was also attended by Tuan Hj Mohd Anuar bin Abdul Hamid, Ketua Penolong Pengarah Kanan, Sektor Pengurusan Aktiviti Murid, Bahagian Pengurusan Sekolah Harian, Ministry of Education.
During the ceremony itself, certificates of participation were given to participating schools by Tuan Hj. Mohd Anuar from the Ministry of Education, together with Puan Christa Hashim of TrEES.
The winning schools were also announced during the closing ceremony.  Mock cheques were presented to the 3 Special Merit Award winners, as well as the top three prize winners, by Ms. May HT Kong, of AFFINBANK, Tuan Hj. Mohd Anuar and Puan Christa Hashim.
It was very difficult for the judges to select the winning teams. The awards recognised efforts put in by the student project teams over the programme year.  The student project teams were graded on their entire performance throughout the programme to determine the overall winners.  This included efforts during the workshops, proposal writing, implementation of their projects and outreach campaigns, report writing, communication and financial reporting, as well as the presentation to judges and judging visits to the schools.
The event was well attended by both guests and members of the media.
