Empowering Urban Communities To Reduce Their Contribution
to Climate Change and Biodiversity Loss

The Earth is subjected to many human induced pressures that contribute to global change. Malaysia is not exempt from this trend. Human pressures on biodiversity and climate change here in Malaysia are particularly linked to the growing urban lifestyles of the modern Malaysian. These urban activities include increased demands for resources, in particular for energy, pollution of the soil water and air, diversion of water to meet urban and industrial needs, and fragmentation of landscapes.

While much of these activities are linked to the daily lifestyles requirements of the average Malaysian, the public still maintain a deep rooted perception that individuals cannot do much to change the situation.

TrEES proposed programme will educate the urban community on the issues of climate change and biodiversity, the links to human activity and how the community can play an active role in reducing their negative impact

The main aim of the programme is to help the Malaysian public realize that individual change is required for a global change.

Components of the programme include;

  • TrEES Community Waste Management Programme
  • Climate Change and Biodiversity Programme for Schools
  • TrEES Biodiversity and Climate Change Community Centre (BCC)
  • Taman Negeri Selangor

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."
- Margaret Mead

It was with this realization, that we determine the future we want, that
Treat Every Environment Special S/B (TrEES),
